MOGADISHU, Somalia — Four government soldiers have been killed in roadside bomb explosion in southwest of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
The explosion ripped through an armored personnel carrier with Somali military soldiers while heading to military camp runs by African Union peacekeeping forces from Uganda.
The bomb attack killed at least 4 government soldiers on board, according to policeman Hussein Mohamed.
Mohamed says the explosion hit a military vehicle travelling through lixdan area, some 60km southwest of Somali capital Mogadishu.
The attack was immediately claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
The group says it killed senior military officials in the bomb explosion.
Somali military officials were unavailable to reach on the phone for comments on the bomb attack.
Al Shabaab has been waging insuregency for more than ten years in Somalia.
The group, which once controlled much in Somali capital Mogadishu in 2011, wants to topple the weak-westren backed government of Somalia.
