MOGADISHU – The regional President of Hirshabelle Mohamed Abdi Ware announced his administration accepted to work with the central government, amid ongoing political crisis.
The President Waare said he had talks with the central government in what he said was solved all his administration’s concerns.
On Sept 8, Hirshabelle and other four regional leaderd suspended all working relationships with central government, citing “interference”.
But, he apparently broken ranks with other regional leaders, says his region will now have full cooperation with the central government, said in a memo.
“The central government accepted to address my region’s concerns (essentially) in return for the cooperation to resume”, he said.
The major problem in Hirshabelle region is said to be security and other issues as the region hosted deadly attacks by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
He urged the central government to ensure the implementation of the latest agreement to resume the cooperation.
In a statement by all regional leaders on Tuesday urged the central government to stop interfering regional issues.
The all Somalia’s member states broke ties with the central government on Sept. 8, plunging the country into a political crisis.
The country has struggled with civil war for decades, and AMISOM has been active there since 2007.
The country’s regional leaders also chose to boycott a National Security Council meeting scheduled for Sept. 17 and 18.
However, UN says the decision by the regional leaders could embolden Al Shabaab and negate the gains made by the African Union Mission in Somalia.
