MOGADISHU, Somalia—Twine roadside bomb explosions targeted African Union armored personnel carriers in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, witness said.
The pair explosions hit African Union forces on board while travelling into SOS junction in north of Mogadishu, leaving two civilian people injured, a witness said.
He says the victims had been taken into hospital.
None of African Union peacekeepers was killed or injured in the blasts, apart from damages of an armoured personnel carrier, according to policeman Hussein Mohamed.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Wednesday’s explosion.
The Al-Shabab has been waging an insurgency in Somalia for more than 10 years.
A 22,000-strong African Union force is in the country to help the government fight the al-Qaeda-linked militants.
The group has been driven out of many urban areas since 2011, however it still controls territory in rural areas and carries out gun attacks and bombings on military and civilian targets.
