The Saudi Arabian authorities arrested 40 people and seized 646 kilogrammes of drugs near its border along Yemen.
Saudi police spokesman, Sahar Bin Mohamed, said its border guards had foiled an attempt to smuggle hashish and heroin into the country.
Mohamed says the drugs were coming from Yemeni territory.
He said of the 40 suspects, 23 were Ethiopians, 9 were Yemenis, 2 Somalis, 4 Saudi citizens and 2 others, whose nationalities have not released yet.
“These suspects were caught with 646 kilogrammes of hashish and heroin”, he said.
Last year, more than 150 kilogrammes of marijuana and almost three million Captagon tablets were seized in joint operations.
