Somalia: 3 peope killed in double explosions in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least three people have been killed and 3 others injured in double explosions in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.

The first explosion went off in Mogadishu, after bomb fitted into exploded and killed a staffer at the Somalia’s ministry of religious affairs identified as Fu’ad Saleban Jama.

Two other were also injured in the bomb blast, a witness, Shukri Mohamed said.

A passerby woman was killed and a soldier injured when roadside bomb explosion targeted a vehicle carrying Somali police officer outside Mogadishu.

A witness says the officer, whose name has been released yet, had survived the assassination attempt on his life, but the blast killed a civilian woman and injured one of his guards.

The victims of the bomb attacks were rushed into hospitals in Somali capital for medical treatment.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Saturday’s explosions.

But, such attacks are often claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group, which is battling the Westren backed government of Somalia.

The group claimed last week’s suicide bomb and gun attack near country’s Presidentail Palace in Mogadishu, leaving 12 people dead.
