Somalia: ISIL group claims in Bosaso attack

MOGADISHU – The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, known as ISIS) claimed responsibility for shooting of an Intelligence officer in north of Somalia’s Bosaso town.

The group says its fighters had seriously shot and injured a senior security officer belonging to Puntland State in the town of Bosaso.

The claim was made through Amaq website runs by State of Iraq and the Levant.

The victim was immediately rushed into hospital, according to a police officer, Jam’a Abdinor Hassan.

Hussein says the police soldiers had already launched operations to hunt down the culprits in the villages of the town.

“We are conducting operations, out soldiers will soon arrest the attackers and will be brought into justice”, he said.

The ISIL group’s fighters still operating in parts of Puntland territories, while the Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militants holding Gollis hills near Bosaso town.

The groups carried out similar attacks and assassinations in Bosaso town for the past months.
