Roadside bomb blast kills 2 people in Somalia

MOGADISHU – Two people have been killed and three others injured on Monday in twine roadside bomb explosions in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.

The explosions tore through a vehicle carrying government soldiers in Daynile area , leaving 2 people dead, a tea-seller, Faisa Mohamed said.

Mohamed told Mareeg Online that a large brown plume of smoke had been visible on skyline, shortly after bomb blasts targeted the soldiers on board.

“I saw bodies of two people, who were taken by military soldiers after the explosions. Three other civilians also injured. The victims were screaming ”, she said.

A soldier was among those killed in the explosions, according to a witness, who asked to be unnamed for reprisal attack on his life.

He says all the victims had been taken into hospital.

No group has claimed the responsibility for Monday’s explosions in Somali capital Mogadishu.

But, such bomb attacks are often carried out by Somali-based group of Al Shabaab, which is battling Western-backed government of Somalia.

The group vowed to step up its deadly attacks against Somali government and African Union troops’ bases and popular eateries in the capital.

The blast comes a days after at least 4 people were killed in a car bombing near country’s parliament compound in Somali capital Mogadishu.
