Deadly explosion kills six soldiers near Mogadishu

MOGADISHU – At least six Somali military soldiers have been killed and five others injured in roadside bomb explosion near the capital Mogadishu.

The explosion ripped through a military vehicle carrying United Arab Emirates – trained soldiers at km13 road near Mogadishu, leaving six soldiers on board dead, a witness said.

He says five others had also been injured and being taken into hospitals in Somali capital.

“I saw a burning military vehicle and body parts littered on the ground, shortly after the explosion”, he said

The soldiers were heading to military camp in Afgoye town, some 30km south of Somali capital Mogadishu, at the time of the bomb attack.

No group says it carried out the explosion.

In the past months, Somali-based group of Al Shabaab claimed similar attacks in and out of Mogadishu, leaving scores of soldiers dead.
