Police foil deadly Nairobi Al-Shabaab attack

A shoot-out between the brave officers and the terrrists ensued leaving an Al-Shabaab fighter dead, the Daily Nation reported on Sunday, February 18.

Five automatic riffles and 36 grenades were found in the intercepted vehicle besides a cache of assorted arms, detonators, knives and mobile phones which police say were to be used in a deadly terror attack in the Capital, Nairobi.

A major security operation is being undertaken in the capital to arrest accomplices of the suspects after a hotel key found at the scene identified the hotel in which they were booked.

According to the Daily Nation report seen by TUKO.co.ke, there were five terrorists but police only managed to nuetralise one, arrest one while the rest escaped with one said to be heavily armed.

The Mitsubishi sport car (KBM 200D) was spotted hidden in a thicket by police who were from a patrol mission.

Police believe that Kenyan citizens were among the criminals after their National Identification cards were found at the scene of the shoot-out.
