Teachers in North Eastern region express fears after Wajir attack

Teachers in the North Eastern region have expressed fear in the wake of a grisly terror attack in Wajir that claimed the lives of three.

Suspicion is rife that the attack was executed by the Somalia-based terror organisation Alshabaab.

”We are deeply worried because we think we are not safe. I don’t feel comfortable working here,” a teacher who works in a local secondary school in Garissa says.

The teachers are now calling on the government to bolster security in the North Eastern region or better still transfer them to safer regions.

Ambassador Muhamod Saleh who is the North Eastern region commissioner said that the government was on top of the situation and that the people working in the region should not panic.

Alshabaab has suffered serious military reversals recently and has been staging attacks in a desperate bid to remain relevant.
