Qatari help delivered to Somalia

The Somali government announced yesterday that it has received military assistance from the State of Qatar to support the national police.

The assistance is within the framework of strengthening the cooperation relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

According to Somalia News Agency, the military assistance was delivered during a ceremony held at the Mogadishu International Port, in the presence of Mohamed Abukar Islow Dualle, the Minister of Homeland Security of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and Hassan bin Hamza Asad Mohammed, Acting Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Somalia.

It added that the aid provided by the State of Qatar includes thirty four-wheel-drive vehicles dedicated to the duties of the national police forces.

Mohamed Abukar Islow Dualle expressed on behalf of the Federal Government his thanks to the State of Qatar, saying it plays a leading role in Somalia through the provision of development and humanitarian projects and assistance to the Somali people and government.

For his part, Hassan bin Hamza stressed Qatar’s readiness to provide more assistance and support to Somalia in various fields, as part of the strong relations between the two countries.
