GALKACYO – Somalia’s semi-autonomous state of Puntland soldiers have launched an operation in Galkacyo town.
The crackdown was carried out Garsor and Iraa neighborhoods in the town, seizing several people on suspicion of being involved in insecurity acts.
The security officials told journalists that the operation was aimed at targeting unknown gunmen, who often extorts civilians at night times in parts of the town.
“We will continue such operation in which we want to prevent thugs, those always waylay the civilians in the town. Our security soldiers will tolerate these incidents in the town”, he said.
The operation comes amid residents of the town, have been complaining about armed robbers, urging security agencies to prevent those gunmen.
