The European Union stands in solidarity with the Somali people after another terror attack has caused many casualties and left many people injured.

The European Union offers its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

The attack took place just two weeks after Mogadishu had suffered its worst terrorist attack and at a time when the country is still reeling from this tragedy.

Peace in Somalia will require Somali leadership and the determination to remain united to eradicate the scourge of terrorism.

In this regard, the meeting of Federal and its Member States Presidents, which started on Sunday 29 October is a step in the right direction. We encourage the parties to resolve their differences and work together to increase security and defeat those who use violence against the Somali people.

The European Union is and will remain a partner for peace and security in the country.
