BULOHAWO (AGGM) – Kenyan fighter jets have launched airstrikes against Al Shabaab targets in response to the attack on army camp in Bulohawo town.

The warplanes bombed in Khabar-Sheikh and Bursagar areas near Bulohawo town, according to deputy governor of Gedo region, Mohamed Hussein.

Hussein said the strikes targeted vehicles carrying number of Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militants, adding that several fighters had been feared dead.

“The strikes killed several militants and scores injured when Kenyan warplanes hit three vehicles belonging to Al Shabaab”, he said.

Neither Kenyan military officials, serving with African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM) nor Al Shabaab group have released any statement in regard to the air raids in Gedo region.

Kenya’s airplanes have made repeated airstrikes in Gedo region in southern Somalia since its troops crossed into its war-torn neighbor in 2011 to attack al-Shabaab bases.
